Hibernation. It's a phenomenon we associate with wild animals, but often engage in ourselves throughout the winter months. We wish the season away and hide behind our doors, waiting impatiently for spring as the cold weather reaches for us and creeps into our bones.

Yet when we put our instincts and preconceived notions aside and embrace the season, we can see beyond. We find beauty in the monochromatic landscape and icy wind, seemingly cleansing the earth's "palette" for the next course.

In very different ways, the works of these artists share some of the same qualities. Soft and subtle messages paired with bold strokes. A beautiful balance of intensity and serenity. A winter storm ushering in the peace and quiet of a pure and freshly covered landscape, helping us to peer through the winter static.
